Science for Contemporary World and ICT

I'm Tula Albalat Martínez and I'm a teacher in Physics and Chemistry in High School in Spain. This course I'm teaching a new subject. This is Science for Contemporary World. And this is the reason why I started this blog.

Since September, students are working in groups in different topics using the Scientific Method. They are participating in the competition El gust d'investigar, which is organized by the University Jaume I in Castellon, Spain. They are preparing a poster and a presentation in case they win in order to present their work in the University the 24th of June this year.

In April, they are going to write scientific articles about their work in the blog El Quadern de Sísif in the web of our High School IES Matilde Salvador. As well as they are going to write in the eMagazine (not only) Across Europe, which is an eTwinning Project with Fiorenza Congedo from Italy, Jūratė Baltutienė from Lithuania, Edita Klobučaer from Croatia and Dagmara Bajerlein from Poland.

In May, they are going to create a web with links to the blog of the High School, to this one, to the eMagazine and to videos in YouTube.

And in June, they are going to use Social Media to promote their work. This is the reason why I'm participating in the Learning Event eTwinning and Social Media. And I've learned to build my PLN (Personal or Professional Learning Network) in order to teach students how to build their own PLN.

Finally, students will be able to use the Scientific Method in order to ask themselves questions and find answers through experience. And what's more, they'll learn to use ICT in order to publish their results and share their knowledge. It's a bit difficult, but it's really interesting, because they are preparing themselves for real life.
